Kursky Hub
Moscow, Russia
While meeting with the client to remodel his existing mall, adjacent to Moscow's busiest, antiquated Kursky Rail Station, we began to visualize a much bigger picture. After brainstorming and discussing some of his adjacent properties, we realized that a much bigger and more powerful opportunity may lie ahead -- rather than a mall remodel, a 21st century Transportation and Mixed-Use District began to unfold.
As our urban environment continues to grow, commuting times increase, and the desire to improve not only the environment, but also the basic quality of human life, the ways of the past must be replaced with better environments for the future. The utilitarian transportation hub of yesteryear has become obsolete and the desire to develop an updated, state-of-the-art Transportation Center may be created to functionally serve the city, and also create places of communal gathering.
The newly proposed Kursky Hub transforms the old national station into a new vision of collective communality. By combining the existing rail line and four metro stations, with Residential, Office, Shopping, Hotel, Culture and Greenspace, Kursky Hub transforms to meet the community’s needs as the modern architype for an urban living center.
