Village Park

Sometimes less is more, and in the case of Village Park, this was certainly true. A first visit to the site - an old, abandoned factory within an industrial area, with a field for employees to play soccer during breaks – did not inspire the imagination. Working with Village Roadshow and a program of only 9,000m2, we transformed the “soccer field” into a park, wrapped cinemas, two-level restaurants, and shops around a new social and family gathering space. The addition of dining terraces with distant views of the Acropolis, Village Park’s courtyards, terraces and performance spaces morphed this old, abandoned factory into a gem within the community. The transformative nature and power to achieve so much with even the smaller footprint programs and projects that come across the designer’s desk is truly exemplified with Village Park.

Today, with Village Park acting as initial catalyst, the area is now home to a Theme Park, Bowling Alley, Billiards, Sports Club and Fields, Shopping Mall, Restaurants, University of West Attica and so much more. Who could have imagined this transformation when we first visited the site?
