Atlantic City Tourism District Master Plan

Atlantic City, New Jersey USA

  • Client:  CRDA (Casino Reinvestment Development Authority)

  • Team Lead Consultant: Jones Lange LaSalle

Adopted by the city, the Atlantic City Tourism District Master Plan seeks to recreate the vigor and excitement of this Historical Beach Town. Embracing the original slogan “Ocean, Emotion, and Constant Promotion”, borrowing some of the city’s historical cues, and stitching together an urban fabric that recreates the vibrancy of the Boardwalk, this new comprehensive plan reinvigorates the street life of memorable boulevards such as Pacific and Atlantic Avenues, layers new districts to replace the “missing teeth” of the city, and creates new attractions for the derelict places such as the old airport Bader Field, thus transforming the gaming city into the original Resort Town of Atlantic City.

By offering a wide range of activities and experiences for people of all ages, using newly adopted urban design principles, and promoting a strategy for redevelopment, phasing, and districtwide improvements, the master plan serves as a catalyst for Atlantic City's social and economic renewal. With new entertainment and attractions established with financial, communal and environmental sustainability, Atlantic City can deliver on the public’s expectations of an ultimate Resort Town, attracting millions of visitors and restoring the exciting image that people once visited and cherished.
